Whether or not you’re a fan of Amy Poehler as an actress (shockingly enough, some people are put off by her sense of humor), you have to admit that she gives stunning adivce.
Poehler is well-known for reaching out to her fans, for giving uplifting peptalks and constantly reinforcing for people — but especially young girls — that who you’re friends with is important, that your best friends matter and that if a boy isn’t funny you don’t have to laugh. This elegant lady is full of confidence, laughter and intelligence. She runs a magnificent channel on youtube aptly titled Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls which features segments called “Ask Amy,” “Operation Nice,” Smart Girls at the Party,” “Girls of the World,” etc. Basically, she’s all about women empowerment and real feminism (not that man-hating crap that gets labeled as “feminism”). If you aren’t paying attention to Amy Poehler, you should be.
“Great people do things before they’re ready. They do things before they know they can do it. Doing what you’re afraid of, getting out of your comfort zone, taking risks like that – that is what life is. You might be really good. You might find out something about yourself that’s really special and if you’re not good, who cares? You tried something. Now you know something about yourself.”
“There’s power in looking silly and not caring that you do.”
“I just love bossy women. I could be around them all day. To me, bossy is not a pejorative term at all. It means somebody’s passionate and engaged and ambitious and doesn’t mind leading.”
Poehler is beautiful, insightful and she gives great high-fives. Honestly, what’s not to love?
