Jane Austen

Next Season on Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi Meets Jane Austen

In a recent Q&A in Brazil, Eternal Troll Mark Gatiss teased fans that writers may feature another famous British novelist on Doctor Who. Since the revival of Doctor Who in 2005, writers have introduced our favorite time traveling alien to Agatha Christie, Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and two English Queens. Sorry, better make that three english queens: It’s been a fun and creative ploy, typically these episodes go over rather well with audiences.  Who didn’t love watching Queen Victoria facing down an errant werewolf?…

Fangirl

This “Fangirl” Adaptation Will Have You…Well, Fangirling.

Last week (4/1), news broke that film rights for Eleanor and Park had been purchased by Dreamworks studios (we’re cautiously optimistic about that). Meanwhile, in one, tiny corner of the internet, another work from author Rainbow Rowell has already made it on film (and to a computer near you) in a winsome adaptation of Rowell’s second novel, Fangirl.  For those of you unfamiliar with Fangirl, for this writer, it was even better than Eleanor and Park — if you can believe that. If you thought the love story of Rowell’s…

Cassandra Clare is kicking off the countdown to the final Mortal Instruments novel with some steamy fan art of Clary and Jace.

The author uploaded the image above, drawn by the talented Cassandra Jean, to her tumblr today with the following caption,

I was feeling bad about being unforthcoming with spoilers, so have some Clace feels from Cassandra Jean’s postcard set for City of Heavenly Fire! (Yes, these are all scenes that happen.)

City of Heavenly Fire hits shelves on May 27th, but head on over to Clare’s tumblr every tuesday from here on out for #TMITuesdays. The author has promised she’ll be revealing new Heavenly Fire content every week up until the release date. Is this all going to be content you’ll enjoy? Maybe so. But maybe not. Clare loves to troll her fans,  just check out some of her answers to fans for proof.

Eleanor and Park

6 Reasons Why We’re Cautiously Looking Forward to “Eleanor and Park,” The Movie

On Tuesday, Dreamworks Studios announced that it was picking up the film rights to the New York Times Best Selling debut novel from Rainbow Rowell, Eleanor and Park. Lately, YA fiction to film has been all the rage in Hollywood, from Veronica Roth’s Divergent, to John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. When Rainbow Rowell’s  Eleanor and Park first hit shelves in 2013,  reviews hailed it as a “a beautiful, haunting love story” for young adults. Is this book for everyone? Of course not, few…

Divergent

Why We Love Divergent’s Theo Jame

This is not a post where we go on and on about the Divergent actor’s sexy physique, or his impressive acting skillz. This is a post where we want to commend Theo James for making some important and progressive statements regarding  gender equality  in mainstream Hollywood films, and LGBT representation as well. Before Divergent,  you may not have known James or you may have recognized him as the Turkish diplomat who scandalously dies in Lady Mary’s bed in that one episode of Downton Abbey. I guess he was in Underworld:…

Who’s Up For a Game of Quidditch?

Japanese engineer brings Potterheads one step closer to playing the sport of their dreams. After an entire generation grew up with Harry Potter, subsequently many of us would have given anything to play the Wizarding sport of Quidditch.
