Captain America Superman

It’s Gonna Be A Bro-Down: Captain America 3 Set To Premier Same Day As Superman vs. Batman

Everyone move to the back alley, it’s gonna get real: Marvel announces after a wildly successful weekend that the Cap will be returning to theaters in his third solo movie on May 6th, 2016, same date Superman vs. Batman is due to hit theaters. Which side will you take? It’s a tough call. Chris Evans’ performance over the weekend has been hailed as Marvel’s best movie yet–and we agree–so we’re pretty much clamoring for his dance card. But Henry Cavill’s performance in Man of Steel…

5 Reasons Why ‘The Winter Soldier’ is a Must See

Here at Larkable, we’ve been very excited about the new Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, and now we have 5 legitimate reasons why you should be too. 5. The 3D is out of this world Let’s get this out of the way: there’s no such thing as an original story–it’s all in the delivery. When it comes to movies it breaks down into several components, but cinematography is huge, and The Winter Soldier delivers a stunning visual performance. I saw it in IMAX 3D;…

6 Reasons Why We’re Cautiously Looking Forward to “Eleanor and Park,” The Movie

On Tuesday, Dreamworks Studios announced that it was picking up the film rights to the New York Times Best Selling debut novel from Rainbow Rowell, Eleanor and Park. Lately, YA fiction to film has been all the rage in Hollywood, from Veronica Roth’s Divergent, to John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns. When Rainbow Rowell’s  Eleanor and Park first hit shelves in 2013,  reviews hailed it as a “a beautiful, haunting love story” for young adults. Is this book for everyone? Of course not, few…

Ricky and Constantine: The New Hot On-Screen Duo

Ricky Gervais and Constantine, the newest Muppet breakout star, sit down and kill it in this promotional interview for their new Muppet flick, Muppets Most Wanted

One reason we love characters so much is because of the chemistry two actors have together. Consider the affection between Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth, or Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch that absolutely makes us route for them. Sometimes it’s all about that spark between personalities, and Ricky and Constantine have it. This interview will have you falling out of your chair with laughter as these two blind-side Simon Reynolds at Digital Spy.

Dr. Jones, again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away.

Apparently that includes dignity, as talks for Indiana Jones 5 make their rounds. But maybe, just maybe, we can redeem our whip cracking professor-that came out wrong. This can go one of two ways: It can be of such awesome epic proportions that we’ll still be huddled in our theater seats wide-eyed and slack jawed long after our cinema worker buddies are nudging us out of the chairs with brooms as they sweep up popcorn and toss away drinks (take your trash, people). Or it…

Why We Love Divergent’s Theo Jame

This is not a post where we go on and on about the Divergent actor’s sexy physique, or his impressive acting skillz. This is a post where we want to commend Theo James for making some important and progressive statements regarding  gender equality  in mainstream Hollywood films, and LGBT representation as well. Before Divergent,  you may not have known James or you may have recognized him as the Turkish diplomat who scandalously dies in Lady Mary’s bed in that one episode of Downton Abbey. I guess he was in Underworld:…

The New X-Men Trailer is Here (and You’re Gonna Love It)!

Due out May 22, it feels like we’ve waited an eternity for a full length trailer of this epic sequel. And now that wait is finally, thankfully over. This inevitable blockbuster, directed by Brian Singer,…

A Black Widow Movie? Scarlett Johansson’s Onboard

After years of dreaming, fans of the Black Widow are just a little closer to a solo film for Natasha Romanoff. In February, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told Digital Spy that Johansson’s character would be further developed in Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier and Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. The president then added that a standalone movie may also be in the works. Johansson lended her support to the  idea at the Captain America 2 premier in the UK, March 20. The actress told reporters, “If you…

George R.R. Martin

A Song of Ice and Fire, The Movie?

Since George R.R. Martin spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, speculation persists the Game of Thrones series will end not with a final season on HBO but a movie (or movies) instead. Since the publication of that infamous Vanity Fair article, emphasizing how the show was quickly catching up with the (as-of-now) unfinished series, discussion has exploded all over the internet.  What will show creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff do if (when) they begin to surpass the story which George R.R. Martin has published?  There’s a lot…

Missing Martin Freeman? Catch Him This Spring on FX!

And check out his crazy Minnesota Accent in the new FX Fargo trailer!

We’ve got an indeterminate amount of time before we’ll once again see Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman reunited on Baker Street, it’s true.  But that doesn’t mean you have to wait until the next Hobbit movie to see Freeman!  Catch our favorite hedgehog-lookalike  in the new FX “original” series (but based on that 90’s cult classic from the Coen brothersFargo.   If you’re happy to see Freeman in this FX reimagining, you can write a thank you note to his wife,  Amanda Abbington. A longtime fan of the movie and owner of a “Better Call Saul” t-shirt, Abbington basically forced Freeman into the project when she heard it was an opportunity. She gleefully told Vulture that Bob Odenkirk follows her on twitter now.

Abbington played the adorable but lethal Mary Morstan in Sherlock, season 3.

Fargo promises to be just different enough from the movie, with a new plot and marked personality shifts in characters. Basically, the series is an AU*, OOC* Fargo fanfic* which won over the Coen brothers so thoroughly that it got its own show. That’s okay, we’re dealing with a superbly talented cast: Freeman and Odenkirk, as well as Billy Bob Thornton, Colin Hanks, Kate Walsh, and many others. All of whom, based on the trailer, do a stellar (if not a smidge over-the-top) Minnesota accent.

Joel and Ethan Coen returned to executive produce the show and wrote three episodes. Fans of the original: if you have a problem with FX’s Fargo, you know where to direct your hate mail.

Other executive producers include series writer, Noah Hawley, the exceedingly talented pilot director Adam Bernstein (who already proved his chops in 30 Rock, and Breaking Bad), Warren Littlefield and Geyer Kosinski.

Fargo will air on FX, April 15 at 10pm/9C. Still itching for more info? Take a peek at Yahoo’s “first look“.

The Giver

“The Giver” Trailer Will Have You On The Edge of Your Seat

It’s taken 20 years, but we’re almost there. “The Giver” comes out August 15, 2014!

Larkable brought you new stills back in January for the exciting movie adaptation of Lois Lowry’s popular book, “The Giver”.  Produced by and starring Jeff Bridges, who was the book’s biggest advocate for decades,  the movie also features Hollywood giants like Meryl Streep and Alexander Skarsgård, as well as breakout performer Brenton Thwaites (who plays Jonas Salk).

Audiences can also expect to see Katie Holmes and Taylor Swift among the many faces in the trailer. Some surprises include a romantic sub-plot from screenwriter Michael Mitnick, and some pretty futuristic technology, advanced beyond what was presented in the book — but worse things could have happened. As Bridges told Entertainment Weekly, “the spirit of the story is still there.”

All in all, we’re pretty thrilled Harvey Weinstein finally got on board with this idea, because it looks like the movie is going to exceed expectations all around.

Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston: Taking Evil to a New Level — In Song!

What do Captain Hook and Tom Hiddleston have in common? A love for expressing themselves in song, apparently.

It might surprise some that, given his cinematic success in the last few years(i.e. Thor, Avengers), Tom Hiddleston has a role in the fifth installment of Disney’s Fairy Series The Pirate Fairy, headed straight to Blu-ray/DVD this April.

Tom Hiddleston

Hiddleston and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) voice a young Captain Hook and Fairy Zarina (respectively) who steals pixie dust from Tinkerbell (Mae Whitman, Parenthood) for certain nefarious reasons (pillaging and plundering, you know, “Pirate Stuff”). Add this to the list of villains that Hiddleston seems to relish playing. For an actor who has a reputation for being the ultimate good guy, he certainly loves to be  bad, doesn’t he?  Oh well, he always makes for a villain you can’t help but love and his rendition of the legendary Captain Hook is no exception. Check out a glimpse of Hiddleston’s take on Peter Pan’s foe below! Catch The Pirate Fairy on blu-ray and DVD April 1st!
