Wes Anderson

Forrester’s Take: Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel”

If there was ever a man who delighted in the whimsical joy and nostalgia of cinema, it would be Wes Anderson. Known for multiple films, the director excels at layering personality and wit amidst a refined vintage homage, and Anderson never fails to imbibe his cheeky nuance with color and personality. This writer has viewed a handful of his films, and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” didn’t fail to stray from the formula. The movie opens to a cheerful, barbershop quartet backed stroll through a snow-covered…

George R.R. Martin

A Song of Ice and Fire, The Movie?

Since George R.R. Martin spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, speculation persists the Game of Thrones series will end not with a final season on HBO but a movie (or movies) instead. Since the publication of that infamous Vanity Fair article, emphasizing how the show was quickly catching up with the (as-of-now) unfinished series, discussion has exploded all over the internet.  What will show creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff do if (when) they begin to surpass the story which George R.R. Martin has published?  There’s a lot…

“Honest” Trailers: We Admit It, We’re Obsessed

The Youtube Channel “Screen Junkies” has been bringing viewers commentary, “honest” trailers and parodies of our favorite television and film since 2008. Some might argue that 2014 has been their best year yet. “First things first, what is Screen Junkies?” “I’ve never seen any “honest trailers,” where should I start?” Well, they’re all pretty golden. Your best bet would be to start with a movie that you’re a fan of — they’ll have you cackling and nodding your head like, “That’s it! That’s the movie!”…

Zach Galifianakis goes “Between Two Ferns” with Obama

Galifianakis and Obama get honest with each other, also Galifianakis really needs to see a doctor. This morning, Funny or Die released Galifianakis’ latest interview for his recurring skit, “Between Two Ferns.” The guest? None other than President Barack Obama. As always, Galifianakas displayed his usual charming self (“You try being a short fat guy who smells like Doritos and try to make it in hollywood!”) meanwhile Obama alternates between trying to keep a straight face and repeating “Seriously?” Which is actually fair- if I met…

Bill O’Reilly Thinks A Woman Can’t Be President, Steven Colbert Will Tell You Why

If you think a woman can’t be president, that’s totally cool — but you’ve gotta have some sort of logic behind it. Lucky for us, Steven Colbert has laid it all out: bing, bing, bing. Here at Larkable, we don’t typically take on political topics- and we’re still not taking a stance on the issue at large here. We’re here for entertainment not government squabbles. But we couldn’t resist sharing with everyone this snippet of Steven Colbert taking Bill O’Reilly to task over some particularly…

Divergent Fans: You Can Breathe a Sigh of Relief

Ardent Book Lovers have always lived with the burden of Hollywood. There have been countless adaptations butchered by an overzealous director, so committed to a big picture release and making millions that the results were underwhelming and tragically disloyal to the original vision. (Ella Enchanted, anyone?) But this is all old news to most people, isn’t it? Thankfully, with the enormous popularity of Harry Potter, Hollywood is beginning to understand the importance of bringing authors onboard when it comes to portraying their narrative. JK Rowling had…
