The network CW has announced an early pickup for the renewal of “Supernatural.”
Paired with the freshman hit, “The Originals,” CW is now enjoying a more successful tuesday night than the network has seen in years. Which meant an easy renewal for both shows (fans, you may rejoice). This means a tenth season for “Supernatural,” will it be the last? Most likely not. On Wednesday, CW Network President Mark Pedowitz told reporters,
“As a fan of the show, who’s seen every episode, as long as I’m here and those [ratings] still hold, God bless them, they can go as long as they want.”
Is that nepotism? Maybe, but what do we care? We get a tenth season of “Supernatural”!
Other shows to earn early renewals include “The Vampire Diaries,” “Arrow,” and “Reign” which have created high ratings for the network on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
“Reign” is another freshman show for the network about the young Mary, Queen of Scots, during her time in France as the fiancé of Frances II. Though riddled with historical inaccuracies, the show has so far enjoyed massive success and the New York Times called it a “Camp Classic.” Recently, it won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama of 2014. Yet to be announced for renewal are Hart of Dixie, The Tomorrow People, and The Carrie Diaries (the Sex and the City prequel).
