Sony released a nearly 4 minute long trailer for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, hitting theaters May 2, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 preview looks incredible. Not to undermine Toby Maguire or anything, but Andrew Garfield portrays the spider-man I watched all those afternoons after school just so much better. He’s clearly more awkward, uncertain of himself, focuses on sporting incredible hair like any other teenager trying to attract a beautiful girl would, and is quietly brilliant. Garfield embodies the high school-era what’s-right-and-wrong frame of mind better than Maguire ever did. Even though new superheroes have to take on great power with their great responsibility, the realism of personality, experience, and life-stage maturity makes for a better movie than any formulated run-of-the-mill self-sacrificing hero. Remember when he was playing on his cell phone while waiting for the bad guy to show up? We live in, regrettably, a selfish world, and Garfield is able to portray those struggles clearer than any of his predecessors. He is nothing short of believable.
Plus, Andrew Garfield is a fanboy. And who in the world hates on one of their own?
We were pleasantly satisfied with the first reboot of Spider-Man, and can’t wait to see what this sequel has in store.
