‘Divergent’ Book Playlist vs. ‘Divergent’ Movie Soundtrack feat. Ellie Goulding

Regardless of how excited you are for the most recent YA screen adaptation, this single from Ellie Goulding is going to have you hooked:

Ellie Goulding has her fair share of great songs and ‘Beating Heart’ hasn’t let us down. The title track from Divergent is a great taste of what the movie soundtrack is going to offer. In fact, Entertainment Weekly got a line up of the tracks:

Divergent: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
“Find You” — Zedd featuring Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant
“Beating Heart” — Ellie Goulding
“Fight For You” — Pia Mia featuring Chance The Rapper
“Hanging On” (I See MONSTAS Remix) — Ellie Goulding
“I Won’t Let You Go” — Snow Patrol
“Run Boy Run” — Woodkid
“Backwards” —Tame Impala and Kendrick Lamar
“I Need You” — M83
“In Distress” — A$AP Rocky featuring Gesaffelstein
“Lost And Found” (ODESZA Remix) — Pretty Lights
“Stranger” — Skrillex with KillaGraham from Milo & Otis and Sam Dew
“Dream Machines” — Big Deal
“Dead in the Water” — Ellie Goulding

Also included on Deluxe Edition:
“I Love You” — Woodkid
“Waiting Game” — Banks
“My Blood” — Ellie Goulding

This might upset Divergent book diehards, as Veronica Roth has actually tweeted and included her own playlist for this first novel in the trilogy. The artists don’t exactly match up:

Divergent Playlist
“Chasm” by Flyleaf
“Again” by Flyleaf
“Sweet Sacrifice” by Evanescence
“Primavera” by Ludovico Einaudi
“Arise” by Flyleaf
“The Pretender” by Foo Fighters
“Starts with One” by Shiny Toy Guns
“Help I’m Alive” by Metric
“Running Up That Hill” by Placebo
“Made for You” by OneRepublic
“In the Dark” by Flyleaf

Like, they don’t match up at all. And there are more song additions and artists that Veronica Roth has tweeted and shared across her social media platforms that haven’t found their way into the final cut. A few of them did, though, so win for the fandom.

The other YA movie adaptations have produced some pretty fantastic soundtracks, so even though the movie isn’t being true to the inspiration, we’re looking forward to Divergent‘s soundtrack anyways.

The Divergent Soundtrack Deluxe Edition will be available for pre-order on iTunes and at Target on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014.
