2014 marks the 10 year anniversary of the beloved “Mean Girls” and everyone has been wondering: are we in for a reunion?
The rumor was even shamelessly promoted by Lindsay Lohan in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon.
“It was interesting, when I was backstage I saw Tina [Fey] and she mentioned maybe doing some kind of [“Mean Girls”] Reunion…she said she was talking to Lorne [Michaels] about it, so she’s talking to the Big Boss..”
Lohan even posted an instagram shot of herself with Rajiv Surendra ( who played Kevin G.) and Daniel Franzese (Damian) with the caption, “You can’t sit with us.”
Other sites quickly jumped on this lead, but what does Fey have to say about it? The talented actress/writer/comedian/producer recently dashed everyone’s hopes when she spoke with Access Hollywood. While Fey didn’t rule out a reunion of some kind, there definitely won’t be a movie.
‘I said to her [Lindsay], “Oh, I think someone may call us about doing some kind of reunion because next month is the tenth anniversary of the movie.” And so really… if everyone’s around we might try to do some kind of like panel discussion…But it’s not like – it’s not another movie. At most it would be like a panel discussion with a plate of hot wings.’
So if you’re waiting to decide whether or not this sort of announcement calls for dusting off your pink apparel (for a wednesday, of course), maybe think again. Sorry fans, better luck next time.
