The New ‘Star Wars’ Cast and How You Know Them

Sadly, Zac Efron didn’t make the already iconic black and white photograph floating around the internet today, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be incredibly excited about the rest of the new Star Wars cast!

If you don’t already know about Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and the incredible Carrie Fisher, you have obviously been living under a rock. But now you can rest assured, the trio will be back for the new movie. Along with them are other knowns, unknowns, and that-one-guy-from-that-one-thing. You know who we mean.

Adam Driver

How we know him: Adam Sackler, Girls; Al Cody, Inside Llewyn Davis.

John Boyega

How we will know him: Chris Tanner, 24: Live Another Day. Or maybe you’ve seen Attack the Block from 2011? I have not, but the tag line for the movie is “Inner City vs Outer Space” and it’s actually piquing my interest.

How we know her: Well…um…you probably don’t. Daisy’s IMDB profile is shorter than John Boyega’s.

Oscar Isaac

How we know him: Laurent, In Secret; Llewyn Davis, Inside Llewyn Davis; Orestes, Agora; Prince John, Robin Hood (the Russell Crowe one); Standard, Drive

Andy Serkis

How we know him: Gollum, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit Trilogy. He’s been in plenty more, but we’d be here all day copying and pasting. Feel free to check out Andy’s resume on IMDB.

Domhnall Gleeson

How we know him: Levin, Anna Karenina; Clan Techie, Dredd; Bill Weasley, Harry Potter. I know, I know, deep breaths everyone!

Max von Sydow

How we know him: The Renter, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close; Cardinal Von Waldburg, The Tudors; Sir Walter Loxley, Robin Hood (Russell Crowe one again). He also played Jesus, Ming the Merciless, and the old priest from The Exorcist. Honestly, it was hard to know where to start, Max has been in so many things, he’s basically ‘that guy’ that you can’t pick out of anything, but you know you know him.

All these new comers and veterans are joining our beloved Hamill, Ford, Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the all new Episode VII. It will be directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by himself and Lawrence Kasdan. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer, according to Starwars.com.

Well, it just wouldn’t be right without all that brass. I suppose Hans Zimmer can’t get his hands in everything. Sadly.

But all in all, this looks good! It’s nice to have a cast of fresh faces, revisiting some old, and seeing what modern touches this new production team brings to the table.
