At a Denver Comic Con, a fan asked Wil Wheaton if he was ever called a nerd, and if he was, what did he do? What he had to say made our hearts swell with pride.

Chances are, at some point in your life you’ve had to face someone who didn’t like the things you like. In fact, they didn’t like the things you like so much that they decided to make fun of you for it. We’ve all been there. But how are we supposed to handle it?

A fan asked Twitter sensation, Star Trek: The Next Generation star, and The Big Bang Theory recurring guest Wil Wheaton if he was ever called a nerd, and how did he handle it?

We’ve all heard the bully speech–bullies just don’t understand. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.  Bullies are stupid.

Yeah, but it doesn’t really help.

Wil Wheaton actually makes me feel better about myself as a person, as a fan, and as a nerd.  He is completely wonderful. And if you are ever upset because someone makes fun of who you are, just watch this video.  Memorize it.  Know that 50,000 people in Denver, Colorado have gone through the exact same thing you’ve been through and came out alive.  I can agree with Wil Wheaton–even if 400 kids are making fun of you now, it does get better.  Stay strong, fandom. We love you.
