Moffat Is Already Making Us Cringe For Doctor Who

Does Steven Moffat go to bed grinning as he falls asleep, or is he afraid to blink? Not because of Angels, but because of Whovians? Breaking: Doctor Who Returns This August!

No specific dates yet, unfortunately, BUT there’s a Doctor Who Series 8 trailer to ease the wait!

Okay, so it’s only 15 seconds…but at this point, it’s better than nothing. Series 8 marks the first season for lifelong Whovian Peter Capaldi, who took over Matt Smith’s role in the 2013 Christmas special. Based on his boyish excitement over the role and his previous roles, it’s safe to assume — Capaldi is going to hit it out of the park this fall.

New Writer Credits for Season 8 of Doctor Who!

No, it’s not a Doctor Who trailer — or even an air date, but at least we know who else is crafting Peter Capaldi’s narrative this season. Digital Spy broke the news earlier today, April 30th, that BBC veteran writers, Peter Harness and Jamie Mathieson will draft episodes for the eighth series of new Who. Starring Peter Capaldi as the twelfth doctor (/1st doctor of a new lifecycle?), we’ve all been dying to know what’s in store in the upcoming season. Steven Moffatt has dropped hints here…

Next Season on Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi Meets Jane Austen

In a recent Q&A in Brazil, Eternal Troll Mark Gatiss teased fans that writers may feature another famous British novelist on Doctor Who. Since the revival of Doctor Who in 2005, writers have introduced our favorite time traveling alien to Agatha Christie, Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and two English Queens. Sorry, better make that three english queens: It’s been a fun and creative ploy, typically these episodes go over rather well with audiences.  Who didn’t love watching Queen Victoria facing down an errant werewolf?…

Peter Capaldi for Only 1 Season? What?!

Can it be? Is this true? Rumor has it Peter Capaldi is going to be a one season pony?! Now, this might all be hearsay. We shouldn’t jump the gun. But Zap2It released that this might just be the case. “Capaldi is rumored to be a one-season doctor, in order to steer the show in a new direction.” That’s right, I’m shaking my fist and yelling twice! What the hell, man? You can’t just jerk around our emotions like this! Just last week I had…

A “Doctor Who” News Roundup: Whoniverse Con Canceled, Matt Smith Loves Kids, Peter Capaldi Surprises Fans and More!

Just a week after Karen Gillan was forced to withdraw from the Australian Whoniverse Con, Matt Smith sent his regards that he wouldn’t be able to attend either. Hub Productions posted on their website this morning that, in order to be able to give fans the best possible experience they found it best to cancel the event given that no other modern Doctors were available to appear either. This is fairly out of character for Smith, who regularly appears at fan events and conventions. The…

Karen Gillan Defends Steven Moffat

Actress Karen Gillan, best known among the fandom as Amy Pond, comes to the side of Doctor Who show-writer Steven Moffat. Writer and Producer Steven Moffat has been criticized for his portrayal of female characters, but when put to the question at a science expo panel, Karen Gillan stated she didn’t see it. “I just don’t understand that because I feel like [with Amy] I had a very rounded, interesting, flawed and layered character to play.”…“And I wore skirts but Steven Moffat had nothing to…

Could The Doctor’s Wife Make A Comeback for Peter Capaldi?

Not if Matt Smith has anything to say about it! At least, that’s what Smith told the masses at the Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con over this past weekend. Alex Kingston’s River Song first appeared on Doctor Who back in Tennant’s era for what was thought to be a one-time guest appearance. That all changed once Matt Smith came in and Moffat became headwriter. Kingston was invited back multiple times to develop River Song, her narrative and her relationship with the doctor. River’s character…
