John Green released his fourth novel, The Fault in Our Stars, in January of 2012 to massive success — so successful in fact that movie rights were almost immediately optioned by Fox.
Now in post-production, the first trailer hit the web yesterday and fans of the book are already reacting in equal parts excitement, equal parts anxiety, and entirely in Feels. In case you haven’t picked up this stunning book yet, make sure you do before The Fault in Our Stars hits theaters this summer!
Fair warning: if you haven’t picked up the book yet, this trailer is still going to hit you: right in the feels. Shailene Woodley shines in this much-anticipated film and things are pretty promising that this will be one of the more spectacular adaptations you’ll ever see.
Want a quick synopsis? Here’s the official one, straight from IMDB:
Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel’s other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.
Yeah, okay, it sounds pretty morbid but John Green has developed a reputation with his fans for telling honest stories. Stories that make you think profoundly about our purpose in life, and stories that make you snort water out your nose from laughing so hard. Everyone who has picked up this book will tell you, it’s going to wreck you…and it’s going to be worth it. This writer will venture to guess, the movie will prove about the same.
