Seth Meyer’s takes over “Late Night” next week, as Jimmy Fallon bumps up to the coveted “Tonight Show” position.
While everyone’s curious to see how these two fill the shoes left by their predecessors, Larkable has full confidence in both men and their ability to make audiences laugh. Even better yet, Meyers might just boost his early ratings with his choice for the Late Night House Band.
Last night it was announced that former fellow SNL cast member, Fred Armisen, will be joining Seth Meyer’s move to the Late Show. Though Meyers had previously stated he would not have a house band, that seems to no longer be the case. Armisen will be playing with “guitarist Seth Jabour (Les Savy Fav), bassist Syd Butler (Les Savy Fav), keyboardist Eli Janney (Girls Against Boys) and drummer Kim Thompson (BeyoncĂ©’s touring band), and they’ve chosen the name 8G, after the studio.
Given the nature of their friendship and Armisen’s musical talent, this seems like the perfect choice for the new look of Late Night. According to Meyers, Armisen will “curate and lead the band, and continue to run it, even when he’s off shooting ‘Portlandia.’ #8GBand” Which answers the other curious question of whether or not Armisen will continue with the Lorne Michael’s show he stars in with fellow comdian/musician Carrie Brownstein.
So what do you think? Was Armisen the right choice for Meyers’ newest endeavor?
