Words of Radiance: The Stormlight Archive

Just another reason to get excited about March 2014!

Author Brandon Sanderson’s second book to The Stormlight Archive is scheduled to be released March 4, 2014

Words of Radiance: The Stormlight Archive, Book 2 is coming, and if you aren’t reading The Stormlight Archive, you’re missing out. This particular fan discovered Brandon Sanderson from the last few books of the Wheel of Time Series. It took a few chapters to settle into his style, but I was irrefutably hooked with his storytelling. While it had taken nearly two years to listen to the WoT audiobooks by Robert Jordan, I blew through the final ones in a matter of weeks. Sanderson’s writing was so gripping, I wasn’t just listening to it while driving, cooking, doing housework, or getting ready for bed; I was sitting at the kitchen bar, hands nervously folding and unfolding, staring ahead at nothing as Michael Kramer and Kate Reading narrated. You guys…it was intense.

From there I finished Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn Series in record time (it was clear he began the series before WoT and finished it once he picked up Jordan’s work; the quality noticeably improves, however the story was addictive from the first chapter), and then listened to his (at the time) most recent piece, The Way of Kings: The Stormlight Archive, Book 1. Also narrated by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, that book was phenomenal. It’s the first in a multi-volume epic, already bound to join the ranks of Wheel of Time, A Song of Fire and Ice, and Lord of the Rings. This isn’t a book review, so I’ll spare details, but just know that if you want to be a part of a ground-breaking modern day classic, this is the book series. It’s original, fast-paced, rich in character development, fantastic and yet so believable; it’s hard to describe in just a few words when you’re as passionate about something as this.

Just look at the size of that manuscript!

Coming out in the beginning of March is Words of Radiance: The Stormlight Archive, Book 2. I’ll be listening to the audiobook, and while it might take longer to finish, at least I can keep it going nonstop around my daily life. That, and I’m currently trying to find the time to finish reading Brandon Sanderson’s first YA novel Steelheart, so, you know, there’s that.
